Greetings from the Director
The Center for Educational Program Promotion in Graduate School was established in April 2018 as an administrative organ for interdisciplinary graduate education programs. Under the direct leadership of the President, we supervise and administer the Program for Leading Graduate Schools, Doctoral Program for World-leading Innovative & Smart Education(WISE), and other interdisciplinary graduate education programs that are specified in degree certificates throughout our University.
Set up within the Center is the Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Program Governing Council, which deliberates and makes decisions on important matters concerning administration of interdisciplinary graduate education programs. By including graduate school deans, the Governing Council ensures that responsibilities for implementation, continuation, and advancement of education programs are shared among the graduate schools and that every member of the University cooperates with the programs. Positioned under the Governing Council is the Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Program Governing Board, which comprises multiple members from the Education Systems Committee and others not associated with the programs, as well as coordinators for each program. By ensuring availability of outside perspectives, the Governing Board not only assures the quality of education programs but also meticulously plans, verifies, and evaluates the contents of programs in line with the PDCA (plan-do-check-act) cycle.
We hope that the Center will take the lead in pioneering graduate school reforms and that the outcomes of these endeavors will spread across all graduate education offered here at Kyoto University.
